We're Moving!

In the summer of 2020, Our Neighborhood is moving to 1395 Stony Point Road, near Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville!

We are excited that this move will allow us to serve more children, across a wider range of ages. If you're looking for infant and toddler care, we recommend touring our current program and getting on the wait list as soon as possible. If you are looking for a play-based preschool program and are hoping to join our new Learning Studio for children ages 3-8, we will be hosting open houses in the spring of 2020. Email us with any questions.

Our Philosophy

Our Neighborhood believes children are competent learners, that we all learn best through play, and teachers can better support children if they keep up-to-date with current child development research. Conscious connection with one another, and our earth, is a core value of Our Neighborhood.

Commonly Asked Waiting List Questions

Do you have a waiting list for all ages?

Yes. Typically, our center is full and we have a waiting list for all families seeking care. After you come for a tour, we will provide you with a form that will allow you to join our waiting list. We don’t provide the form in advance, as we want families to have a clear understanding of our program before choosing to sign up.

How long will I be on the list?

Typically families stay on our waiting list for 6 to 12 months, from tour date to start date. This can vary throughout the year, and additional enrollment occurs in the summer months, however, so that may impact the average waiting period. There is no guarantee you will be offered a space within that timeframe.

Is there a charge to get on the waiting list?

No, there is no charge to join our waiting list, but you will need to come in for a tour prior to getting on the list. Tours are also free! After you come for a tour, we will provide you with a form that will allow you to join our waiting list. How is your waiting list organized?

We will file waiting families based on tour date and expected date of enrollment. Current families, teachers, and alumni families are given first priority. Because of continuity-of-care, we are also mindful of group placement, age, and timing when considering who will be offered an available space.

Why I haven't heard anything about my application?

We will only reach out if a space comes available. Feel free to update us. You can call or email to check on your wait list status or share information about family changes.
