Helen was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. She moved to London in 2012 and met her American husband, Adam. They moved to Charlottesville in 2014 for graduate school at UVA, where they both earned MFAs in Fiction, and their son, Elliott, was born in December 2019. It was Elliott’s enrollment in the Learning Studio in 2024 that sparked Helen’s enthusiasm for working with young children and relating to them in the Our Neighborhood Way. 

Helen is excited to get to know the Infant Toddler Village friends and their families. One of her favorite things about Our Neighborhood is the warmth and closeness of the community, and she is thrilled to become more involved in it as a part-time teacher.

Elsewhere, Helen teaches a creative writing class for moms at Writer House, a local nonprofit.
