Miriam was born and raised in Charlottesville, and her life has been shaped by the Reggio Emilia philosophy- she attended a Reggio preschool herself and started working there when she was 14. In addition to her Reggio background, Miriam has experience in a forest school, in special education, and in public Pre-K. 

Miriam graduated from Elon University in the spring of 2023, where she received her degree in Early Childhood Education and minored in Social Justice Studies. In addition to working on a stage crew on campus, Miriam student taught in a variety of schools.

Miriam had heard of RIE and Conscious Discipline before coming to Our Neighborhood but didn’t know much about them. She hopes to continue growing as an educator by learning and practicing the Our Neighborhood Way!
