Shannon grew up in Lovettsville, Virginia before attending Roanoke College. There she studied psychology and many of her chosen electives were in human development. During her summers she worked with English language learners, and she also spent time in Washington, D.C. working with underserved children. Upon graduation she began her work with neurodiverse children, many of whom were on the autism spectrum. She has also taught children horsemanship skills for many years.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys riding horses, hiking, and watching documentaries. She is excited to be part of Our Neighborhood and put values into practice that she has long held in her heart. She loves the imagination that children bring to life, and hopes to learn all she can from them.
