Review:

I thoroughly enjoy how the author weaves the story into understanding the details of human sensory systems. The Out of Sync Child is a helpful tool for thinking about some of the behaviors that seem inexplicable to parents and teachers. The book provides so many helpful suggestions for how to support children to have sensory integration and to advocate for a child who needs more help. I only wish that this information was commonplace.

Key Points:

  • Our body's sensory systems provide key information for daily life.
  • Everyone experiences dysregulation from time to time.
  • When children experience sensory dysregulation that impacts their daily life there are therapies that can help.
  • Adults may need to advocate for children to get the help they need.
