The Yes! Brain

Review:

Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson do it again! This is another fabulous book for parents to understand their children’s brains and help children build their capacity to live a meaningful and joy-filled life. Each book these authors write articulates so clearly the research of how to raise healthy children while honoring the challenge of parenting and never judging caregivers for struggling. This book is one of our favorites because it really will help you shift your thinking.

Key Points:

  • Parents can not only help children return to their green zone after falling into a red zone upset but also build children’s capacity to stay in their green zone in the future. This green zone and red zone imagery is powerful for parents and to teach to children.
  • Empathy is innate to humans and children are competent relationship builders. Caregivers can “fine tune the empathy radar, establish a language of empathy, and expand the circle of concern”

Challenges:

  • It is just hard work, a community of like minded practitioners is vital to sustainable yes brain practice.
